Assembling your Shade 4 Fun shade is
easy if you follow these steps...

Step 1:
Form your shade by spreading a 1/2" wide strip for
the 12" shade and about 1/4" wide for 6" shade
of glue on the underside of the straight edge that has
a full scallop on the top & bottom. Line up scallops then
place flat on table the press to seal along entire seam.
Hold for about 30 seconds, 6" seam may have to be
held a little longer. When assembling the
vellum for both sized, use the width above but you
may have to hold the seam down a little longer. Let Dry.
Step 2:
Turn shade upside down on clean table top
(so it rests on the small top scallops).
For 12" shade:
Drop 12" bottom wire into shade and use two clip clothespins to
hold
into place. I place the clothespins
on either side rather than in the front & back.
Make sure the flat part of the clothespin is placed
on the wire so that it pinches the wire, otherwise
the shade may have a little "pucker" .
For 6" shade:
Place top wire into place, pressing gently,
run a bead of glue around wire. Let dry.
Note: You may have to straighten your top wire.
Use pliers (shown here) otherwise the
cross wire welds may break loose. Or if you have one
of our new two piece top wires (patent pending),
assemble as shown...
Step 3:
For 12"
lampshade:
Place a bead of glue around the 4" wire of the chimney
or bulb clip top as shown. You can run a bead of glue
straight from the bottle or if you are assembling a lot of
shades, squirt some glue out on a plastic lid and roll the
wire in it for a quicker application. Now place the top wire in the
shade,
eye balling for levelness (see picture below),
and gently press into place (press gently so you don't
crush the scallops). Helpful hint: place a inverted
chimney wire on table and set shade into it to prevent
the scallops or top edge of vellum from being crushed.
Step 4:
Place the tip of your bottle of glue right on top of the wire, and
gently
squeeze while running the tip along the wire
on both sides of the clothespins. Don't be too picky about
how much glue is showing, it dries clear! Let completely
dry for about 2-4 hours.
